Adrien Tambay managed to win Sunday morning's exciting GP3 race at Spa-Francorchamps. The Frenchman took the right decision during the race to continue racing on slicks when rain began to fall, while others switched to wets. Tambay was joined by Rossi and Monras on the podium.
The second GP3 race at Spa-Francorchamps pleased the fans who came early. They saw Dean Smith lead the race after one lap, but just a few laps later he was overtaken by Nico Müller. It became even more interesting though when there was a short but heavy rain shower interrupting the race.
The entire field opted for wets. All but one driver; Adrian Tambay. The son of former Formula 1 driver Patrick Tambay, continued racing on slicks in the poor conditions at Spa. He managed to stay ahead of Müller who was rapidly closing in and tried to overtake the Frenchman on several occasions. Tambay was not going to give away his lead and remained calm.
Müller though lost his patience and thus a number of positions due to a mistake. Alexander Rossi moved into second and started his fight with Tambay as the track continued to dry. Rossi was unable to get past Tambay.
Tambay showed an incredible fighting spirit today at Spa-Francorchamps and deserved every bit of his victory here in Belgium after a stunning fight on track.
