Alexander Rossi has expressed his delight at ART Grand Prix’s achievement of winning the first-ever GP3 Constructors’ Championship, which it did in Belgium at the weekend as he finished second in Race 2.
With 2010 being the inaugural season for the Formula 1 support series, the French outfit has enjoyed much success thus far including a strong championship lead for Mexican Esteban Gutiérrez.
“ART for sure came into this championship as title favourites, given their past successes in GP2 and Formula 3,” American Rossi, who celebrates his 19th birthday on 25 September, told GPUpdate.net on Tuesday.
“We proved our strength in pre-season testing and were able to keep the momentum throughout the entire campaign.
“To actually clinch it before the final event is a great achievement and one that we all can be very proud of. We, as drivers, are always fighting to be on top but at the end of the day we are in the same team and striving for the same goal.
“A big congratulations to, not only Fred and Nicolas, but to all of the engineers and mechanics who endured many late nights and difficult weather conditions that definitely made the difference for this championship.”
