It has been confirmed by the Racing Steps Foundation that James Calado, who won the final race of this year’s British Formula 3 Championship at Brands Hatch on Sunday, will be moving up to GP3 with the title-winning ART Grand Prix team in 2011.

Although Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne claimed this season’s BF3 title in dominant fashion, 21-year-old Calado was a clear runner-up with five race victories to his name, solidifying that place in the wet at Brands.

“It's fantastic to be joining such a strong team as ART,” said James, who hails from Cropthorne in Worcestershire.

“They've won the inaugural GP3 series and are very strong in GP2 and the F3 Euro Series as well.

“To be joining a championship-winning squad is what every driver wants, so to have the opportunity to do that and to race in such a high-profile series in front of F1's movers and shakers is a dream come true.”
