Hylkema pleased with GP3 introduction
19 October 2010 – The Netherlands’ Thomas Hylkema was pleased with his first GP3 outing at the Estoril test session last week, as he now hopes for a full-time drive in the series which heads into its second season next year.
Present with Manor Racing, the 22-year-old Dutchman ended proceedings 22nd quickest of the 30 drivers - two places ahead of fellow debutant team-mate Rio Haryanto as other partner Adrien Tambay topped the timesheets.
“I’ve definitely learned a lot over the course of the test and I’m really looking forward to the run at Jerez this week. The GP3 car has a lot more performance than the Formula Renault I’ve been used to - it doesn’t feel hugely quicker when you’re at the wheel but that’s because it’s quite heavy.
“It’s a great car to drive and I was pleased with how I got used to the Pirelli tyres quite well.”
The latest GP3 testing action will be staged in Jerez, Spain between Wednesday and Friday of this week
