The Atech CRS GP3 team has confirmed that Britain’s Nick Yelloly will be joining the series in 2011. The link-up follows a number of test sessions for the 19-year-old from Solihull, West Midlands, who competed in British Formula Renault this year.
Having driven for Atech in a selection of post-season tests, Yelloly’s lap times have impressed the squad. This week, he has been at Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps circuit in order to continue testing the Formula Master car.
“I am really excited to be moving up from the British Formula Renault championship to GP3, which has to be regarded now as the best championship out there for the aspiring young professional,” he said at the Ardennes venue.
“To be able to make this step with Atech CRS, with whom I’ve achieved rapidly improving success in a relatively short career, is a real added bonus.”
“The prospect of being joined by two other talented young drivers in 2011 will enable me and the team to make a serious attempt at achieving many successes through the year. No-one should underestimate how serious we are about mounting a very serious campaign as a team in 2011.
“We relish the challenge and can’t wait for the new season to start. Thank you particularly to David Hayle, Atech CRS and my sponsors for giving me this opportunity.”
