Sims joins Status for 2011 season

20 January 2011

It has been confirmed that Britain’s Alexander Sims has stepped up to GP3 with Status Grand Prix for the 2011 season. The Londoner, currently 22 years old, finished fourth with ART Grand Prix in last year’s Formula 3 Euro Series.

Sims enjoyed an F3 race victory in 2010 although he now hopes for a title attack with the team which Robert Wickens took to the GP3 runner-up spot last year.

“I am thrilled to be racing in GP3 with Status Grand Prix,” Sims said on Thursday morning, having joined the Jerez test session in October.

“Although I only spent one day testing with them, it was immediately clear that they are an extremely professional and ambitious team and I am really looking forward to working with them.

"They had a fantastic first season in GP3 and I will be working hard to give them reason to celebrate again in 2011.”
