Airwaves signs Jackson and Griffin for 2011
12 January 2011 – Airwaves Racing has announced that Mat Jackson will spearhead its attack for the 2011 British Touring Car crown, as the Henley-in-Arden racer remains with the squad for a second campaign and is this year joined by series debutant Liam Griffin. This season, the Kent-based team switches from the BMW 320si to the Ford Focus.
Jackson made his full-time BTCC debut in 2007 and impressed immediately with the family-run BMW Dealer Team before joining Racing Silverline from the second meeting of 2009. The 29-year-old, now a 12-time race winner, joined Airwaves in 2010.
Griffin switches to the championship after competing with the same Motorbase team in last year’s Porsche Carrera Cup, with Team Principal Dave Bartrum having also hinted that a third car is poised to join the line-up.
