Jordan quickest in Silverstone test
25 March 2011 – Andrew Jordan was the fastest man during Thursday’s BTCC test at Silverstone, with the Pirtek Racing driver setting a personal best time of 59.982 around the 2.638-km (1.639-mi) National Circuit. The 21-year-old led Tony Gilham by a margin of 0.246 seconds, with 2005 and 2006 title winner Matt Neal in third.
"I don’t think everybody has shown their true pace today, but hopefully we can continue this good strong run into Brands Hatch when the real stuff starts," Jordan commented. "We won’t read too much into today’s times, but it’s certainly nice and I would never turn it down.
"I think Brands Hatch will be a very hard race weekend, but we’ve shown a lot of promise and all the hard work over the winter has paid off. Hopefully we can transform that into productive races."
Reigning Champion Jason Plato was in fourth place, just 0.018 ahead of Mat Jackson for Airwaves Racing. Tom Chilton followed in sixth, leading Alex MacDowall who is entering his second term with Silverline Chevrolet after a successful debut campaign. Gordon Shedden, Paul O’Neill and Andy Neate rounded out the top ten runners.
