Jordan leads the way in first practice
16 April 2011 – Andrew Jordan topped the opening practice session of the weekend at Donington Park on Saturday, similar to the early pace he demonstrated at Brands Hatch a fortnight ago. The Eurotech Racing driver set a time of 1:10.843 to finish just under two tenths ahead of James Nash. Gordon Shedden completed the top three, with the Honda Racing driver on the lookout for a stronger weekend this time out.
The sun was out as first practice got underway, with only Jordan up front being able to break the 1:11.000 barrier. Behind Nash and Shedden, Tom Boardman secured fourth at the wheel of his SEAT Leon. He edged out Jeff Smith by just 0.002 seconds, while Tom Chilton ended the session as the leading Team Aon rdriver in sixth.
Former double Champion Matt Neal was next up for the Honda Racing team, some eight tenths off the leading pace. The Stourbridge-born man completed 22 laps en route to finishing his time in the cockpit just ahead of Mat Jackson. Alex MacDowall and Paul O'Neill rounded out the top ten with their respective Chevrolet Cruze's, while current title holder Jason Plato settled for 12th place.
Saturday’s second practice session begins at 12:05pm local time (BST)
