Jordan victorious in Race 2
17 April 2011 – Andrew Jordan claimed his first victory of 2011 in fine style during the second race of the day at Donington Park, as the Eurotech Racing driver held off the attentions of a tightly packed BTCC field. James Nash made the podium for the second race in a row, while Race 1 winner Matt Neal secured third.
"It was pressure, pressure, pressure all the way although at least the safety car periods gave me an opportunity to cool the brakes and tyres a bit," Jordan explained after the race. "James gained on me at Coppice and the chicane but I could drop him everywhere else so it was just enough."
After a strong start, Jordan was able to maintain his advantage over the rest of the field, and he kept his head under two Safety Car periods. Jason Plato was the cause of the first, after rolling his car in a dramatic incident involving Gordon Shedden and Liam Griffin. The reigning Champion escaped unharmed, but his Silverline Chevrolet squad will be hard-pushed to repair his car in time for Race 3.
Tom Chilton took advantage of a Mat Jackson mistake and settled into fourth, while behind him Rob Collard and Gordon Shedden lapped in close succession until the end of the race. Tom Onslow-Cole finished a spirited seventh to secure Amd Miltek Racing's first points of the 2011 season. Tony Gilham, Alex MacDowall and Mat Jackson completed the top ten.
Sunday's Race 3 begins at 17:15pm local time (BST)
