Speedworks, Hughes to miss Thruxton
22 April 2011 – Speedworks Motorsport has confirmed that it will not make the journey to Hampshire next weekend for rounds seven, eight and nine of the 2011 MSA British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton. It means Tony Hughes will have to sit out the action.
The decision has been taken after Hughes’ Avensis suffered major damage in the third race at Donington Park last weekend.
“It is a great shame,” said Speedworks boss Christian Dick. “We could have repaired the Avensis in time for Thruxton.
“But we have decided instead to opt out and spend our time more productively, in sorting the one or two underlying issues we have. Then, when we do return, we can be sure the car is in top form.”
