GP3: Spain 2011: Friday practice 1 results

Finland’s Valtteri Bottas led the way in Friday morning’s GP3 practice session at the Circuit de Catalunya. Amid ideal conditions and with a best effort of 1:38.726, the Lotus ART topped the timesheets from team-mate James Calado, with the MW Arden car of Mitch Evans also in the top three.

All 30 cars were on-track at the green light illuminated, with Indonesian Rio Haryanto registering the first lap time but Scotland’s Lewis Williamson heading the timesheets for the first half of the session. A lost wheel for António Félix da Costa resulted in a short yellow flag period, with Evans then going P1 in the second half of the session.

Bottas then moved ahead, staying ahead for the final ten minutes, with Evans unable to improve after being slowed by traffic on his final lap.

Practice 2 at Barcelona begins at 4:50pm local time (BST +1)
