MW Arden driver Mitch Evans will start this afternoon’s Feature Race from pole position after edging out Italy's Andrea Caldarelli by a mere one thousandth of a second. A flurry of action in the last few minutes saw them both deliver strong bids for pole, while Marlon Stockinger and Aaro Vainio completed the second row of the grid.
The pair were involved in an intense battle during the final stages of the session, taking turns to top the timesheets just before the chequered flag came out. Evans ultimately did enough for pole with his final effort and although Caldarelli looked set to challenge yet again, a small mistake ended his hopes of reclaiming the position.
James Calado and Nigel Melker will line-up in fifth and sixth respectively, just ahead of Jenzer Motorsport's Nico Müller. Tamas Pal Kiss was next up, edging out British driver Dean Smith and Valtteri Bottas who completed the top ten runners.
Saturday's Barcelona Feature Race begins at 5.20pm local time (BST +1)
