Shedden tops first Oulton Park practice
4 June 2011 – Gordon Shedden set the early pace as the BTCC field took to the Oulton Park Island Circuit for the first time this weekend, posting an effort of 1:27.558 to lead Honda Racing team-mate Matt Neal by just under four tenths of a second. Jason Plato completed the top three at the wheel of his Chevrolet Cruze, with the reigning Champion eager to repeat the success he enjoyed in the final race at Thruxton.

As the 24-strong field completed their respective programmes, Alex MacDowall was best of the rest behind his Silverline Chevrolet team-mate, while Andrew Jordan posted a time worthy of a place in the top five.
Rob Collard was next up in sixth, ending the session just 23 thousandths of a second ahead of Airwaves Racing man Mat Jackson. 2010 Independent Champion Tom Chilton claimed eighth behind the wheel of his Team Aon Ford Focus, while James Nash and team-mate Andy Neate completed the top ten runners.
