Neal 'sorry' for Shedden collision
6 June 2011 – Honda were presented with a disastrous finish to Oulton Park’s second BTCC race on Sunday, with Matt Neal making contact with team-mate Gordon Shedden at the last corner of the last lap. The incident, which threw away a one-two finish, resulted in the former double Champion retiring as the Scot limped home in sixth position.
“I am annoyed with myself for letting it happen,” said Neal, with the family-run cars having also made accidental contact at the Island Hairpin two laps earlier.
“I am sorry for Flash that I crashed into him. I was looking down the inside and it was wetter on the track than I thought. I locked up the brakes and went into him. I am sorry for him and for the team because we would have had a one-two finish.”
