Lotus ART’s James Calado topped the timesheets during this morning’s opening practice session at the Hungaroring, outpacing his nearest rival by more than four tenths of a second. Frenchman Tom Dillmann place his Addax machine in second place, while Lewis Williamson completed the top three for MW Arden.
The drivers had to contend with a cold and slightly rain-hit track surface this morning, with overnight rain creating a significant challenge as the field headed out. Nigel Melker was best of the rest behind the top four as the session concluded, finishing just ahead of Adrian Quaife-Hobbs who rounded out the top five.
Britain’s Dean Smith ended the session sixth fastest, almost a full second behind team-mate and second place man Dillmann, while Aaro Vainio, Pedro Nunes and Michael Christensen rounded out the quickest ten runners.
Second practice begins at 4.50pm local time (BST +1)
