Matt Neal has moved back atop the BTCC standings following his Race 3 victory at Brands Hatch, winning the partly reverse-grid outing ahead of Honda Racing team-mate Gordon Shedden. James Nash completed the podium finishers, securing his best result of the weekend after two strong points hauls in the previous two races.

Neal's upward trend began as early as the first corner, passing Shedden with ease before setting his sights on the two cars ahead. A small mistake by Andy Neate later on the first tour allowed Neal to take advantage, with the latter then going on to steal the lead from pole-sitter Nick Foster along the main straight.

Shedden quickly joined Neal up front when Foster began to fall back, with some Honda tactics helping the Scotsman's title hopes. The pair switched positions late on to ensure that both men could score a point for leading a lap. Neal then resumed his lead and ultimately crossed the line with an advantage of 0.186 seconds.

Tom Chilton was best of the rest behind third place man Nash, with Mat Jackson topping off a fine weekend with a strong fifth place finish. Jason Plato, who now sits five points behind Neal in the title race, progressed to sixth, while Tom Onslow-Cole, Andrew Jordan, Tom Boardman and Nick Foster rounded out the top ten.

The season finale takes place at Silverstone in a fortnight's time
