Trident to take over Addax GP3 team

11 October 2011

GP2 team Trident Racing has announced that it will be branching out to GP3 next season. The confirmation for the Maurizio Salvadori-owned outfit came after several months of expansion plans, which involved analysing all European single-seater championships, with the eventual decision being to take over the Addax GP3 squad.

The official takeover of Addax will come on 1 January 2012 with, before then, the two companies working together at the remaining test sessions of this year.

“The arrival of Trident in GP3 represents a really important part of a much wider programme which started in 2011, with a revamp in our technical compartment,” explains team owner Maurizio Salvadori. “I've always believed in the possibilities of a developmental path between GP3 and GP2 and, when the right opportunity came with the chance to progressively take over Addax, I decided to go for it.”

“Addax is pleased with this agreement with Trident, which will allow us to focus on our core activity of GP2,” adds Addax head Alejandro Agag. “We think this will allow our team to be more competitive in the feeder series to F1. We have gained very important experience in GP3 and we wish Trident the best in this new challenge for them.”
