GP3 test at Circuito Ricardo Tormo 24 November 2011

Germany’s Daniel Abt has remained atop the timesheets on the second and final day of this week’s GP3 test session in Valencia. The Lotus ART driver posted a quickest lap time of 1:26.147, leading the way from Matias Laine and Marlon Stockinger.

As per usual, the majority of quickest personal lap times came during the morning period, with eight different nationalities of driver in the first eight places. A few drivers tested with different teams, with Gabby Chaves joining Status and Alex Fontana with Tech 1. Britain’s James Calado ran on-track with reigning Champions Lotus ART.

There was a brief early stoppage when Yuhi Sekiguchi went off in the RSC Mücke car, with Laine soon setting the quickest time as proceedings continued, holding on to the spot for much of the opening hour. Abt then duly moved into the position he had already held 24 hours earlier, edging out Laine by just under one tenth of a second.

Once again, a clear blue sky was on offer although ambient temperatures were somewhat cool during the morning period.

GP3 testing continues next week, with Jerez staging a two-day test from Thursday
