Pirelli, the sole tyre supplier of Formula 1 and its official feeder series, will offer 200,000 euros (£165,000) to this year’s GP3 Champion, should he successfully graduate to GP2 in 2013. On top of this, the new title winner will take part in a development session with a GP2 car during the winter period between seasons.
“I would like to thank Pirelli for their generous offer,” says Bruno Michel, CEO of the GP2 and GP3 Series. “This is fantastic news for all of our young drivers, who will get a great motivation boost out of Pirelli’s prize fund as they pursue their goal to be successful and make it in Formula 1.
"Besides, we have decided to offer the GP3 Series Champion the opportunity to take part in one of GP2 Series’ development tests next winter season.”
The 2012 GP3 season begins in Barcelona on the weekend of 11-13 May.
