Portugal’s António Félix da Costa topped the timesheets as GP3 kicked off track action at Silverstone on Friday morning. Amid awful weather conditions, the Carlin driver led the way from Atech’s Támas Pal Kiss and the MW Arden car of Mitch Evans.
One would not have needed to watch the session to know how bad conditions were, as the leading time came in the form of 2 minutes and 11 seconds. 27 drivers took to the track, although it couldn’t be seen by many as huge amounts of spray were thrown up. David Fumanelli, Robert Visoiu and Britain’s Alice Powell all spun off the circuit.
Heading into tomorrow’s qualifying, after just 45 minutes of practice time, Kiwi Evans tops the championship table by just four points from Finland’s Aaro Vainio.
The Silverstone GP3 qualifying session starts at 8:45am (BST) on Saturday
