qualifying results

Mitch Evans will start this afternoon's opening GP3 race at Silverstone from pole position, the New Zealander posting an impressive 1:51.892 effort in qualifying. He is by Aaro Vainio on the front row, with Félix Da Costa completing the top three.

With the rain clearing overnight, the field enjoyed a completely dry session this morning. Times tumbled as the track rubbered in and created a stunning battle for pole, ultimately won by Evans with his late attempt. Matias Laine was best of the rest in fourth, with Lotus GP drivers Conor Daly and Daniel Abt in fifth and sixth respectively.

Kevin Ceccon was next up ahead of leading Briton Will Buller, while Kotaro Sakurai and David Fumanelli completed the top ten. Remaining British drivers Alex Brundle, Alice Powell and Robert Cregan finished 12th, 17th and 24th on the timesheets.
