Louise Goodman will be returning to the race track as the British Touring Car Championship continues at Knockhill next weekend. Formula 1 pit lane reporter for ITV before the company lost broadcasting rights to the BBC for 2009, Goodman will contest two races in a Mini Cooper.
With four meetings remaining on this year’s BTCC calendar, Goodman will juggle racing in the Celtic Speed Mini Cooper Cup alongside her presenting duties with Steve Rider.
“It’s been a few years since I sat in a racing car, so I’m not really expecting to be giving the regular drivers too much trouble, but I’m very excited and more than a little nervous about racing at Knockhill,” Goodman told the official BTCC website.
“It’s a fabulous circuit and I’m sure it will be quite a challenge – and a lot of fun. I’ll be getting some lessons from one of the very best before my race; Gordon Shedden (Honda Racing driver in the BTCC) has agreed to take me out on-track and give me a few tips. I think I’ll be needing all the help I can get!”
After the aforementioned Shedden was disqualified from Round 18 at Snetterton on Sunday, team-mate and reigning Champion Matt Neal leads the British Touring Car title race by eight points, with Jason Plato ten in arrears of the top.
