GP3 announces teams for next three years

1 October 2012

GP3 has confirmed which teams will be making up its grid for the seasons of 2013 to 2015. For next year, the feeder championship to GP2 and Formula 1 has given entry to nine different outfits, one of which is newcomer Koiranen Motorsport; the Finnish team steps up from Formula Renault 2.0, where it became the Champion team this season.

“I am very pleased to reveal the names of the nine teams that have been given an entry for the 2013, 2014 and 2015 seasons,” says GP3 Series CEO Bruno Michel. “We have received a lot of requests from some of the best motorsport teams which proves once again that GP3 generates a lot of interest. In only three years’ time, the series has grown into one of the most important categories and its rescaling with a more powerful car has reinforced its position as a stepping stone to GP2.

“We have chosen to stay loyal to most of the existing GP3 teams but we thought it was also important to bring fresh blood into the mix which is why we’re happy to welcome Koiranen Motorsport, who has been very successful in other categories. It will be very interesting to see how these nine teams will adapt to the new GP3/13 car.”

Koiranen replaces Ocean Racing Technology, which in turn had been drafted in to fill the breach for Tech 1 Racing.

Teams entered for GP3, 2013-15 seasons:

Atech Grand Prix / GBR
Carlin / GBR
Jenzer Motorsport / SUI
Koiranen Motorsport / FIN
Lotus GP / FRA
Marussia Manor Racing / GBR
MW Arden / AUS
Status Grand Prix / IRL
Trident Racing / ITA
