Arden signs Red Bull juniors Sainz, Kvyat

9 January 2013

Carlos Sainz Jr. and Daniil Kvyat will contest the 2013 GP3 Series with MW Arden, the outfit has announced. Members of the Red Bull Junior team, the 18-year-olds graduate from British Formula 3 and Formula Renault Eurocup 2.0 respectively.

Sainz Jr. makes the switch to GP3 after finishing sixth in the 2012 British Formula 3 championship, having secured five victories. The Spaniard, son of two-time WRC World Champion Carlos, also finished fifth in the FIA-sanctioned European category.

Meanwhile, Kvyat joins the Formula 1 support series after finishing as the runner-up in Formula Renault Eurocup 2.0 and claiming the Formula Renault 2.0 Alps title in the same year. The Russian achieved seven race wins on his way to the Drivers' crown.

Sainz Jr. and Kvyat, who will race for the team with whom Mitch Evans won the 2012 title, both tested Formula Renault 3.5 machinery before committing to the GP3 Series.
