Vainio and Kujala join Korjus at Koiranen GP
11 February 2013 – Aaro Vainio and Patrick Kujala have been named as Koiranen GP's remaining drivers for the upcoming GP3 season, with the pair joining Kevin Korjus at the Finnish outfit.
Vainio, 19, moves to the team after finishing fourth in the 2012 GP3 campaign with rivals Lotus GP, which included a victory on the streets of Monte Carlo. Korjus, 20, is returning to the squad with whom he claimed the 2010 Eurocup title after a spell in the Formula Renault 3.5 series, while Kujala, 16, moves up from Formula Renault 2.0.
"Entering GP3 is a major challenge for us, but we are confident we can do the job," said team boss Afa Heikkinen. "We have the right people and good drivers, I believe we can challenge the front runners. However, we have no illusions, it won’t be easy."
The opening GP3 pre-season test of the year takes place at the Autódromo do Estoril from 20-22 February, while the full campaign kicks off in Barcelona on 12 May.
