Atech Grand Prix and Bamboo Engineering have joined forces ahead of the 2013 GP3 campaign and will race under the name of the Silverstone-based outfit. The decision sees Atech's short and realtively unsuccessful spell in the series come to an end.
Founded back in 2009, Bamboo has competed in the WTCC and BTCC categories, with the team's latest development marking its move into single seater racing. It joins the championship for the introduction of the eagerly anticipated GP3/13 chassis.
"We’re thrilled to be competing in one of the worlds finest single seater formulas, Bamboo Engineering will be looking to make its mark and carve a strong reputation," explained Bamboo Engineering CEO Richard Coleman. "We can’t wait to get stuck in and make a real impact on our first season in the GP3 Series, with our racing pedigree we’re well prepared to show just what Bamboo Engineering can do."
The opening GP3 test of the year takes place at Estoril from 20-22 February, with the full season kicking off at the Circuit de Catalunya on the weekend of 11-12 May.
