Nick Yelloly will return to the GP3 Series with Carlin this year, having made the switch from Formula Renault 3.5. The 22-year-old Briton, who claimed two race victories last season, will compete alongside Eric Lichtenstein and Luís Sá Silva at the team.
Yelloly has previous experience of GP3, having raced in the category with Atech GP back in 2011. The Stafford-born driver, who claimed a podium finish at Silverstone before going on to enjoy further success with Pons and Comtec in FR3.5, says GP3 is now 'a great package' with the recent adjustments made to both the car and calendar.
"I’m really looking forward to working with Carlin this year, they’re a team with a great history," said Yelloly. "The upgrades to the car have transformed where GP3 is in the motorsport ladder; with so much more power and the combination of the Pirelli tyres and the F1 circuits, GP3 is a great package for me to be part of. I just can’t wait for the season to start, I’m in a good team and I’m aiming to fight for the championship."
Yelloly will be in action with his new team for the first time at Estoril later this week, with the opening pre-season test of the year taking place from 20-22 February.
