Kubica crashes out of lead on ERC debut
23 March 2013 – Robert Kubica crashed out of a comfortable lead at the Rally Canaries on Saturday afternoon. The Pole, making his debut in the European Rally Championship (ERC), lost control of his Citroën DS3 during a right-hand corner on the tenth of 14 stages.
Having set the pace in all eight of Friday's opening stages, Kubica was sitting over one minute clear of nearest rival Jan Kopecký before ending his rally prematurely.
Kubica is taking part in selected ERC events this season alongside his full-time WRC2 programme which gets underway at the Rally Portugal round from April 11-14.
