Super Aguri returns as Formula E team
1 November 2013 – The Super Aguri name will officially return to motorsport next year, with Aguri Suzuki being confirmed as the sixth team owner for the inaugural Formula E season.
The Tokyo-based squad, which operated from Leafield, UK, throughout its three-year spell in Formula 1, joins Andretti Autosport, Dragon Racing, Drayson Racing and e.dams – a joint venture between Alain Prost and DAMS founder Jean-Paul Driot.
"Today is a new chapter for the Super Aguri name and I'm proud that our team will represent Japan in the inaugural Formula E series," Suzuki, Executive Chairman of Super Aguri Formula E, explained after the announcement of his team's comeback.
"Zero emissions racing is a progressive concept, and after more than 40 years as both a driver and team owner, I see Formula E as a great stride towards the future."
Suzuki raced in Formula 1 for eight seasons between 1988 and 1995, competing in 88 Grands Prix. His best result of third came at the 1990 Japanese Grand Prix.
