Kvyat seals Abu Dhabi pole position
2 November 2013 – Future Toro Rosso driver Daniil Kvyat grabbed pole position for the opening race of the title-deciding GP3 weekend in Abu Dhabi. The MW Arden driver posted a 1:55.473 for the top spot, while championship leader Facu Regalia could only manage 10th.
Kvyat, who crucially collects the four bonus points for pole, now trails Regalia by just three points. The latter endured a torrid session, running wide on an early run before making a fruitless rear suspension change in a last-ditch effort to move up the order.
Nicky Yelloly ultimately emerged as Kvyat's nearest challenger, although he was a sizeable 0.280 seconds in arrears. Kevin Korjus and Alexander Sims will form the second row of the grid, with Jack Harvey and Carlos Sainz, Jr. completing the top six.
Tio Ellinas, the last of the remaining title contenders, wound up in 12th position.
The opening GP3 race in Abu Dhabi begins at 6.35pm local time (GMT +4)
