Niederhauser tops final day of test
7 November 2013 – Patric Niederhauser set the standard on the final day of the post-season GP3 test in Abu Dhabi. The Swiss, representing MW Arden, clocked a 1:55.372 in the afternoon session to lead morning pace-setter Oliver Rowland (ART) by two tenths of a second.
Heading into the final hour, Rowland – who had topped Wednesday's running – sat atop the timesheets. The Briton then dropped behind Dean Stoneman (Koiranen GP) and Jimmy Eriksson (ART), only to reclaim the top spot by a mere eight thousandths.
Just as Rowland looked to have secured the position, Niederhauser rose to the fore, ending the day with an advantage of 0.185 seconds. Rowland took second ahead of Stoneman and Eriksson, with Melville McKee (Marussia) completing the top five.
There were two red flag periods during the third and final day. Both were caused by Sheikh Hasher Al Maktoum, who spun in the morning and afternoon sessions.
