Formula E strikes ITV television deal
17 March 2014 – All 10 rounds of the inaugural Formula E season, scheduled to run in 2014/2015, will be televised live and free-to-air in the UK, after series organisers confirmed a broadcast agreement with ITV.
The contract adds to existing deals with FOX Sports and Japan's TV Asahi, covering over 80 territories, and will see Formula E screened live on ITV4 and ITV4 HD, alongside online coverage and an on-demand service.
Each Formula E programme will feature race coverage together with comprehensive pre-race build-up, including highlights from earlier practice and qualifying sessions as well as post-race reaction and interviews.
Ali Russell, Formula E Chief Marketing Officer, said: "We're delighted to be announcing this partnership with ITV and to be securing live, free-to-air coverage of Formula E races for our UK fans – of which we're confident there will be many. The UK is widely considered the home of motorsport and a very important market for Formula E.
"With its unrivalled commitment to motorsport, ITV provides the perfect platform to showcase our fully-electric series – which will be racing in London in June 2015 – and to appeal to a new generation of motorsport fans."
All Formula E events will take place exclusively on Saturdays, with races getting underway at 4pm local time.
