Stoneman secures Manor GP3 seat
19 March 2014 – Dean Stoneman has landed a full-time GP3 drive with the Marussia Manor Racing sqaud.
Stoneman, 23, made his return to single-seater racing with Koiranen GP at the GP3 season finale in Abu Dhabi last year, where he finished a close second in the final race of the weekend.
It will be the first full season that he has contested since his title-winning Formula 2 campaign back in 2010, following which he was diagnosed with testicular cancer.
Stoneman will be joined at Manor, the junior arm of Marussia's Formula 1 team, by Ryan Cullen and Patrick Kujala.
"It has taken us a while to find the right team, but I think we have now established the best balance of support, professionalism and expertise to give me a strong chance of fighting for the championship this season," Stoneman explained.
"Manor has a long history of success at this level and of course the connection to the Marussia F1 Team is obviously exciting. I can't wait to get to the first test and start preparing for my full first season back in single seaters for over three years."
The opening pre-season test takes place at Portugal's Autódromo do Estoril from March 27-28.
