Montagny to contest Formula E with Andretti
29 May 2014 – Franck Montagny has signed a deal to contest the inaugural Formula E season with Andretti Autosport.
The 36-year-old Frenchman, who spent a seven-race spell in Formula 1 with Super Aguri back in 2006, is well accustomed to Andretti, having first raced for the team in the 2008 American Le Mans Series campaign.
He made his IndyCar debut with the team a year later and this season took part in the Indianapolis road event.
"It is a great honour to be racing again with Andretti Autosport and Michael Andretti," explained Montagny.
"I worked a great deal with the team in 2008 and 2009, and again this year, and working together on this new electric challenge will be exciting.
"I am convinced that this new fully-electric technology in the automotive industry will become a very important characteristic of our day to day lives in the future.
"This high-level racing competition will very quickly bring new technical developments just as Formula 1 did in the past for everyday automobiles."
Montagny is the seventh driver to be confirmed for the 2014/15 season, which begins in Beijing in September.
He joins Audi Sport Abt's Lucas di Grassi and Daniel Abt, Virgin Racing's Jaime Alguersuari and Sam Bird and Mahindra Racing's Bruno Senna and Karun Chandhok.
