Lynn secures pole in close qualifying
21 June 2014 – Alex Lynn has claimed pole position for the opening GP3 race of the weekend at the Red Bull Ring.
The Carlin driver, who made a mistake on his opening lap and sat sixth after his rivals' second runs, stole the top spot with just half a minute to spare, clocking a 1:20.585 to edge out ART's Alex Fontana by 0.023s.
Manor driver Dean Stoneman took third, ahead of Emil Bernstorff (Carlin) and team-mate Patrick Kujala.
Jimmy Eriksson led Koiranen GP's charge in sixth, with ART's Marvin Kirchhöfer, Status GP team-mates Richie Stanaway and Nick Yelloly and Carlin driver Luis Sá Silva rounding out the top ten positions.
Saturday's opening GP3 race at the Red Bull Ring gets underway at 5.20pm local time (GMT +2)
