Stanaway leads Status 1-2 at Silverstone
6 July 2014 – Richie Stanaway led a Status Grand Prix 1-2 at the second GP3 race of the weekend in cool and cloudy conditions at Silverstone.
Stanaway took the lead from pole man Dino Zamparelli into the first corner and was never headed as he claimed his first GP3 win since Spa-Francorchamps in 2011.
Emil Bernstorff harried Stanaway for a couple of laps but the Carlin driver was passed by Nick Yelloly into Brooklands on the third lap and the trio subsequently spread out, with Stanaway leading team-mate Yelloly home, with Bernstorff in third.
Marvin Kirchhöfer was fourth for ART, ahead of Hilmer racer Riccardo Agostini. Points leader Alex Lynn salvaged sixth after a poor start, the highlight of his race being a bold pass on Zamparelli around the outside of Farm.
Mathéo Tuscher claimed the final point in eighth place after Dean Stoneman slowed with a technical gremlin on the penultimate lap.
Lynn's closest rival in the championship, Saturday's winner Jimmy Eriksson, failed to finish after making contact with Patric Neiderhauser into Vale during the early stages.
The next round of the GP3 season takes place at Hockenheim on the weekend of July 19-20
