Buemi fastest again on final test day
20 August 2014 – Sébastien Buemi was again quickest on the final day of pre-season testing at Donington Park on Tuesday for the inaugural Formula E season.
Having led the way on three of the other four test days, the Swiss driver set a time of 1:31.792, putting him over three-tenths clear of his e.dams team-mate Nicolas Prost.
"We're really happy with today, especially being the last test before Beijing," said Buemi. "We still have a few issues with the car which we need to work on and also to better understand the limits of the car.
"Overall we're feeling good for the first race but we'll have to wait and see, a lot of teams are also looking quick."
"We had a few issues with traffic today," added Prost, "but overall it's gone well and the team are now focused on Beijing, which is going to be a completely different experience for everyone."
Meanwhile, Franck Montagny put Andretti Motorsport third, ahead of Mahindra Racing's Bruno Senna, Virgin Racing's Sam Bird and Audi Sport Abt's Lucas di Grassi.
"So far so good," Montagny commented. "In terms of lap time we are not too bad, in terms of performance, true performance; in race mode we are good too, so I am quite confident."
Karun Chandhok (Mahindra) was next up with Jérôme d'Ambrosio (Dragon) and Venturi duo Stéphane Sarrazin and Nick Heidfeld completing the top ten.
Chinese racer Ho-Pin Tung was also on track, making his Formula E test debut with China Racing as he shared the running with Antonio García, who set the fastest time of the pair.
The opening round will now take place in Beijing on September 13.
