Barbados to host 2014 Race Of Champions
2 September 2014 – The 2014 Race Of Champions will take place in Barbados, after the country overcame rival bidders.
The Bushy Park Circuit was one of the most popular choices during a vote through the official ROC website, Facebook and Twitter, with its selection officially confirmed after discussions with the leading contenders.
It will mark the return of the popular end-of-season contest, which gathers leading names from various motor racing classes, after last year's event was cancelled due to political unrest in Thailand's capital Bangkok.
"We have been overwhelmed by the response to our Venue Vote over the past few weeks. We received over 14,000 votes for a mix of different stadiums and circuits all over the world – which will join our list of venues under consideration for future ROC events," the event's organiser, Fredrik Johnsson, said of the voting process.
"Bushy Park Circuit was one of the most popular in our vote and we are very excited to be heading to Barbados as we assemble some of the world's greatest drivers for another festival of motorsport and entertainment."
In addition to Bangkok in 2012, recent hosts of the event include Düsseldorf, Beijing, London and Paris.
