Heidfeld joins Senna at Mahindra Racing
10 August 2015 – Ex-Formula 1 drivers Nick Heidfeld and Bruno Senna will form Mahindra Racing's line-up for the second season of the Formula E championship, the team has announced.
Heidfeld contested the inaugural Formula E campaign with Venturi, which last week signed 1997 Formula 1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve to partner Stéphane Sarrazin.
Heidfeld thus moves over to Mahindra to join the continuing Senna, with Karun Chandhok, the Brazilian's team-mate last season, stepping aside from the line-up.
Mahindra will compete with its own M2Electro powertrain throughout the 2015/16 season, giving Heidfeld confidence that he can challenge for his maiden series victory.
"I am very excited to join Mahindra Racing for the second Formula E season," said Heidfeld.
"Mahindra's high ambitions are aligned with lessons learned from season one and actions taken for year two. When I tested the M2Electro in Spain, I found a determined team that shares my racing passion.
"My target is to win and I believe our combined experience and skills will ensure we maximise our chances."
Formula E teams begin the official pre-season test phase at Donington Park today.
