Kubica withdraws Rally Sweden entry
30 January 2016 – Former Formula 1 driver Robert Kubica has withdrawn his entry for the second round of the World Rally Championship, which will take place in Sweden in two weeks' time.
Having competed for M-Sport in 2014, Kubica had to switch to his own team last year and revealed that he was intending to participate in fewer rallies due to restrictions on budget and other resources.
"I am sorry to confirm that we will not compete in this year's Rally Sweden," Kubica posted on his social media pages, having initially had his entry approved by organisers.
Kubica entered the Monte Carlo Rally in a BRC-run Ford Fiesta WRC and was running in the top 10 before he slid out of contention on an icy stage early on the second day.
Kubica participated in 11 of last year's 13 events and took a best finish of eighth to place 12th overall in the standings.
