Trident confirms Alesi for second season
17 March 2017 – Trident has announced that Giuliano Alesi will stay with the team in GP3 in 2017.
Ferrari-backed Alesi, son of ex-F1 driver Jean, placed 22nd in the 2016 standings, having been ruled out of the Austrian round after a violent practice crash, and missed another race in Italy.
He scored one point, taking 10th position in the first Spa-Francorchamps race.
"I'm delighted to enter my second GP3 season with Trident," said Alesi, 17.
"We worked really well during my debut year as I merged with the team and fitted well within their work method. I established great chemistry with the technical staff, the mechanics and the management.
"We are still working with huge determination and we know exactly where to re-start from.
"My goal is to continue growing up professionally and become a constant feature among the frontrunners. I believe that continuity will give me an edge in terms of the championship."
Alesi joins Kevin Jörg in Trident's 2017 GP3 line-up; Dorian Boccolacci and Ryan Tveter will also appear for the team during the first pre-season test at Estoril from March 22-23.
