Correa to make GP3 debut with Jenzer at Spa
23 August 2017 – Ecuadorian-American racer Juan Manuel Correa will make his GP3 Series debut with Jenzer Motorsport at this weekend's Spa-Francorchamps round.
Correa started his single-seater career in 2016, contesting the Italian and ADAC (German) Formula 4 categories at Prema Powerteam.
He took two pole positions and three victories en route to sixth overall in Italian F4, and fourth in the rookie standings, while placing 10th in ADAC F4 (third-best rookie).
After further outings in Italian F4 this year, Correa will appear in GP3, joining Alessio Lorandi and Arjun Maini as part of an expanded Jenzer line-up in Belgium.
"Obviously I am very excited and happy to start my first GP3 Series event," said Correa.
"GP3 is something that I have been looking to move into ever since my first F4 event.
"Now with the experience in both open wheel formula cars as well as a lot of the tracks throughout Europe, the time was right to make the change.
"Making the jump to GP3 for the second half of the season is something to build towards in 2018.
"The plans and goals for 2018 are still to be defined but we need to see what opportunities present themselves in the coming months.
"I would like to thank Jenzer Motorsport and all of my partners for this terrific and amazing opportunity."
GP3's field will thus increase to 20 drivers at Spa.
