Kubica 'very pleased' with DTM test outing
25 January 2013 – Robert Kubica said he was 'very pleased' with his DTM test at Valencia on Thursday, after driving a high downforce car for the first time since his near-fatal rally accident in February 2011. He appeared to have no significant difficulties adjusting to the the Mercedes AMG C-Coupé, and managed to produce some respectable lap times.
Although the test was affected by rain, Kubica enjoyed having the opportunity to run in different weather conditions.
"The first installation lap was in the dry, then a few heavy showers of rain came down and we had to wait for the track to dry out," the Pole added. "All in all, it was a good experience, getting to know the car in different weather conditions."
Despite the successful test with the German marque, it is still unclear whether or not the 2008 Canadian Grand Prix winner will make a full time return to racing.
