Mark Webber set the pace on the final day of testing this week at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona. At the wheel of the 2008 Red Bull it was the first sign of some impressive pace from the RB4.
Webber finished narrowly ahead of Heikki Kovalainen with Lewis Hamilton third. Behind the leading trio, Robert Kubica showed that BMW is getting to grips with its new car as it continues to show improved pace in fourth.
The day was overcast, but remained dry until the final hour of testing, which cut things short for the teams present.
Alonso was fifth in the new Renault, 0.2s off the pace but ahead of Heidfeld, Bourdais, Coulthard, Piquet Jr and Vettel. Honda continued to struggle with the new car with Barrichello eleventh and Button thirteenth, over 1.5s off the pace.
Testing is complete at Barcelona but the track action continues tomorrow over in Bahrain where Ferrari and Toyota are in action for the first of two three-day tests.
