Former Jordan driver Narain Karthikeyan has been invited to test the new Kolles Audi for the the European Le Mans Series this year. Formula One's only Indian driver to date made his debut in 2005 with his best result coming at the controversial six-car American Grand Prix, in which he finished fourth.
If he accepts the invitation, Karthikeyan (pictured testing for Williams in 2006) will be driving the car - which will be taking part in the world-famous 24-hour endurance race as well as the series - in a private test at Germany's Lausitzring circuit next week in order to help develop a new aerodynamic package.
Team Kolles - headed by ex-Force India Team Principal Colin - will be taking part in the championship with two Audi R10 turbo diesel machines, following the confirmation of their first driver, Christian Bakkerud. The car boasts a successful racing history with three Le Mans 24h victories and 22 individual race wins to its name. Dr. Kolles, ousted by Force India at the end of last season, had been working with Audi in German touring car series DTM since 2006.
