1997 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve will be driving in the Spa 24 Hour race of the FIA GT Championship next weekend. The French-Canadian, who has also been confirmed to drive in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in August, will be taking part in Belgium with the Gravity Racing International team.
Last seen in Formula One driving for BMW in 2006, former Champion Villeneuve has already expressed his interest in return to the sport next season although the remainder of this summer is set to be busy with the Nationwide Series event taking place in his hometown of Montreal in August.
Before that, however, Spa's event will be the first sports car race contested by Villeneuve, winner of the 1995 Indianapolis 500; the 38-year-old will be sharing the G2 class Mosler MT900R with Ho-Pin Tung, Loris de Sordi and former British Touring Car star Vincent Radermecker. His GT debut will be the second endurance event competed in by Jacques this year, however, having already driven to 28th spot in the 12 Hour touring car race.
