Bernoldi to step in at Sauber?
14 November 2000 – The Sauber team's test driver, Enrique Bernoldi could be in line for a 2001 drive with the Swiss team, should plans to employ Kimi Raikkonen's services fall through.
Sauber, who have already signed Nick Heidfeld, have applied to the FIA to issue Raikkonen with a super licence. Raikkonen lacks this licence since the highest racing league he has competed in is Formula Renault.
Bernoldi, however, has tested with the Sauber team throughout 2000 and before Raikkonen began his trials with the team it was though that Bernoldi held a strong chance of graduating from the F3000 seat he holds with the Red Bull team.
The FIA should decide upon Raikkonen's fate in December meanwhile it looks practically certain that Pedro Diniz will not continue with the Sauber team.
