A lack of practice time in dry conditions was the reason Giancarlo Fisichella felt he had been knocked out of the first stage of qualifying once again in Japan. The Italian will start his third race for Ferrari from 16th on the grid.
Having first joined the Maranello team for the Italian Grand Prix, ex-Force India pilot Fisichella had hoped for points finishes in all five races before the end of the season but has suffered another blow in Japan.
"The first and last sectors weren't too bad," he reported. "I couldn't get into Q2, though; I couldn't improve the feeling in the car with today's weather and just an hour (of dry practice time) before the qualifying session."
