Formula One outcast Flavio Briatore has been reported in the French media as taking sporting governing body the FIA to court. The Italian is believed to be launching a case in Paris on Monday in a bid to cancel the lifetime ban currently imposed upon the former Renault team boss.
With former Renault Team Manager Briatore having been thrown out of the sport for life for his part in the Singapore 2008 race-fixing scandal, French publication Le JDD is reporting that the Italian is now hoping to overturn the ban through the Tribunal de Grande Instance in Paris.
It has also been reported that the 59-year-old is seeking compensation of a figure between €500,000 and €1m (£455,000-£910,000 approx).
As things stand, Briatore is unable to set foot in the paddock of an FIA motorsport championship and the Queens Park Rangers (QPR) football club co-owner could also lose that position due to regulations in the Football League, which state that a ban from any sporting governing body can jeopardise a senior position for any given individual.
